Night Shift

I wish my mind was as alive

in the daytime as it is at night

A flip switches

my eyes brighten

Brain – ignites

It’s futile

To fight

The pull is power

A part of me

Who I am

Innate

I don’t even

Hesitate

Houses fade from view, lights dim

I see the full moon

and then

Creativity swallows me

with her dance and song

Everyone is asleep

and I am finally alone

When my world turns on
