I couldn’t sleep again last night and I awoke to the same images that have been haunting me since Friday. I tried to stay away from media coverage but it is literally impossible. The last story I saw on Facebook made me physically nauseated the rest of the day and I just couldn’t handle seeing any more. I needed God’s comfort desperately and I absent-mindedly picked up a daily devotional book called “Grace for the Moment” by Max Lucado. I flipped to December 14th instead of reading today’s passage. I think I was hoping to hear something specific from the Lord. I almost dropped the book and I got tears in my eyes. He was amazingly specific and the words brought immediate peace to my spirit.
God speaks. There is no question of that. I have had goosebumps and chills for 30 minutes after reading this. I hope it provides some comfort to those who cannot stop mourning the sweet souls of Sandy Hook Elementary. “The shepherd knows his sheep…Every face is a story. Every face is a child. Every child has a name…And he will never forget it.”
Those beautiful children are with the Good Shepherd. They are safe now. He called them by name and they are home.
